Cosplay: be who you want to be!

My sister and mother with three grupal cosplayers at Barcelona

“Cosplay” means “costume and play”. People who do cosplay often dress up like a manga, TV show, movie, band or videogame character.

They can buy the costumes on the internet, or they can make it, but it’s difficult to sew your own costume. You can improve your costume with makeup, wigs, and even the character’s weapons.

People go to conventions with their costumes, take photos with other cosplayers, and also learn or create choreographies to participate in competitions and exhibitions, and win lots of prizes and have fun.

Cosplay can be a good way to use your creativity and improve your acting skills. If you love any character, you can “be” him or her for one day. Other prople will ask you for potos and admire your work, so it’s exciting to work hard in your costume.

There are some amazing and profesional cosplayers who spend weeks, and even months working. They are so skilled: they know how to sew and apply makeup, they are great at crafts, and they are patient!

Profesional cosplayers often become famous, and lots of people know them. You can find them on the internet, searching in Twitter, Facebook… There are also some websites designed for cosplayers.

I personally love the world of cosplay because of its limitless oportunities. You can meet lots of great people who like the same things as you. You can even ask friends to participate in a group cosplay, so you always have a good time.

So, if you truly love a character, and want to dress up at him or her, go ahead and make your own cosplay!
